A Liposomal Complex

Glutathione (GSH) is a short string of amino acids called a peptide. It is composed of three amino acids: glycine, glutamine and cysteine. It is one of the main antioxidants in the cell and is considered a “key antioxidant” in the function of cells. According to research by Jill James, the large majority of children on the autistic spectrum present with low glutathione in their blood plasma.

The functions of glutathione include:

  • Protects cells against free radicals

  • Removes toxins such as heavy metals

  • Enhances immune function

  • Regulates protein and DNA growth

Lipoceutical Glutathione is a liposomal glutathione supplement in liquid form.  Glutathione is not well absorbed when taken by itself. It is a highly reactive substance. In LipoCeutical Glutathione, the glutathione is contained in tiny nanosize spheres called liposomes.  Liposomes are tiny liquid bubbles made from essential phospholipids. Studies in humans have shown that the absorption of phospholipids is higher than 90%.

INGREDIENT LIST

  • Reduced l-glutathione
  • Purified Water
  • Lecithin:

Lecithin is important to every living cell in the body. The liposomes (Essential Phosphlipids) in LipoCeutical Glutathione are derived from lecithin. The lecithin is derived from oil, not protein, extracted from soy. Soy allergens, if present in lecithin, would be found in the protein fraction. The possibility of allergic reaction to this product is low. Lecithin is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for human consumption with the “GRAS” (Generally Recognized as Safe) status.

  • Glycerin:

Also known as glycerol, glycerin is used as a sweetener and as a preservative.  Glycerol is a normal product of fat metabolism and is readily converted to glucose for metabolism.  When the body uses stored fat as a source of energy, glycerol is released into the bloodstream. The glycerin used in LipoCeutical Glutathione is derived from palm oil. It is on the US Food and Drug Administration list of ingredients that are GRAS. Glycerin is used in toothpaste, mouthwash and cough syrups.

  • Potassium Sorbate:

The other preservative, potassium sorbate, is used to prevent yeast and mold growth.  It is extremely safe and is also used to preserve cheese, wine and baked goods.  It is metabolized in the body to water and carbon dioxide. The potassium sorbate in this product is less than a quarter of a percent. (0.25%)

I feel great but…

This is a great product. I got it with the vitamin B complex because I didn’t think my body was methylating properly. I can’t say it necessarily was this product but I feel great! I know for sure the vitamin b complex has been amazing. The glutathione does have an unpleasant smell so just don’t sniff it as you drink it. I was disappointed to learn the vitamin B is synthetic, but from what I understand it’s one of the better substitutes for the real vitamin. Still that means I won’t be taking it long term.
