		Omega-3 and Omega-6 (n-6) fatty acids constitute the two families of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs). EFAs are considered "essential" because they are needed throughout the human life cycle, cannot be produced in the human body, and therefore must be provided through the diet. EFAs aid in the maintenance of cell membrane fluidity and stability, development and function of brain and nerve tissue, oxygen transfer and energy production, immune functions, and conversion into compounds involved in all body functions including local hormones governing inflammatory responses. Nordic Naturals fish oils are molecularly distilled utilizing a leading edge enzymatic process, where any potential heavy metals and dioxins are removed. Third party testing document the complete absence of heavy metals and dioxins (where heavy metals are tested down to 25 particles per billion and dioxins down to 0.5 particles per trillion). A few notes for parents of small or extra-sensitive children: Liquid Cod liver oil absorbs better than softgels, so if you can get it in this way, this is ideal. The peach flavor is less phenolic than orange, so if your child is sensitive to phenols, then this is the preferred flavor to use. If you cannot get liquid in, the DHA junior softgels are extremely small - approximately 1/4" in diameter, and many very young children really like to chew them up, even if they cannot swallow them, and this works just fine. For bigger kids, ProDHA Softgels are a medium size, but not too large if they can swallow regular size pills. ProDHA also have the strawberry flavoring which makes them more appealing.
